Ipad2 is a Great Device. What are some Apps You are Using?

I recently acquired an Apple iPad2 with built in EVDO RevA wireless technology on the Verizon Wireless network. First off, as we all already know, Apple does an unbelievable job when it comes to user interfaces. This devices is truly incredible. After using it, I hate going back to my Lenovo Windows laptop. Anyway, there isn't much I'm not able to do on the tablet.

I'd like to hear other's thoughts on this device and let me know which cool apps you've found and are using on yours. I'm  a baseball fantatic, a true and thru Philadelphia Phillies fan, and I've recently purchased the MLB At-Bat 11 application. This application is great as I get play by play graphics, immediate highlights, pitch-by-pitch status, and even the live radio broadcasts of the games. As applications go, it's a little pricey as it cost me $9.99. I typically don't pay for applications but this one was worth it.

Let me know your experience with the iPad2 and let me know which applications you found to be very useful.

  1. I agree the iPad2 is a great device. Having connectivity through the cellular network is also a great advantage (connectivity everywhere VZW has coverage) but is it worth it? I too have a VZW-enabled iPad2 but I think a Wifi-only version of the iPad is just as good. Wifi is almost everywhere so why pay a monthly access fee to VZW for their RevA EVDO service when I am always not far from free Wifi?

    Just an observation.

  2. I'm totally hooked on MLB 2011 At Bat. It's an application for any die hard baseball fans. There is a Lite version (free) and a paid for version, which provides alot more capability. You follow pitch by pitch of your favorite teams games and get to see highlights almost instantly. I highly reccomend this application for all baseball fans. Especially those fans who have favorite teams that are not in their local market. You can listen to the radio broadcast of your game realtime.

    Give it a try.

  5. I think its interesting how HP thinks that all of a sudden there is this big interest in their HP Touchpad after they discontinued it. So much so that they plan to do another production run to meet the huge demand. The only reason people were buying the tablet is because they dropped the price to $99. At $99, it doesn't have to be a great device, its simply a cheap way to get an extra connected device for your house. I know that's my motive. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get one of the $99 versions so I'm hopinh to be able to grab one once they put additional Touchpads for sale. Your thoughts??? Now HTC is interested in buying WebOS from HP.

  6. I'm hoping to replace my old fashion notebook with my ipad2 by using one of a couple of the notebook apps available from the app store. So far, I'm only able to write using my finger but I just ordered a few of the iPad specific stylus' which will allow me to take notes on the ipad just the same as I can with pen and paper. As soon as I receive the stylus, I'll let you know how it works out and which notebook/paper applications I've found to be the best.

  7. Anyone using the iPad to follow the NFL? ESPN's Fantasy Football application doesn't appear to be designed yet for the ipad.

  9. This week, rumors surfaced about a mini Ipad possibly being launched by Apple. The article said this smaller, less expensive Ipad would be launched to compete directly with Amazon's newly announced Android tablet. Anybody know anything more about this? I love the iPad2 and think it's a good size. An Ipad in a smaller size and more importantly, at a more affordable price, should be a hot selling item!!! What do you think?

  10. Enjoyed the long weekend with a free subscription of NFL mobile which I used frequently on both my Ipad2 as well as my iPhjone4s. Great way to keep up with what's going on around the NFL, especially if your involved in Fantasy Football. In terms of Fantasy Football, the other application I used this time of year is ESPN's Fantasy Football app. It keeps me up to date with the latest minute scores in my league.
